SSAnalyzer Still Exists. Open Access Has Narrowed.

For advisors who used SSAnalyzer™, the question this year is not whether the software still exists. It does. The better question is how you reach it now, and whether that path still fits an independent practice.
What Happened to SSAnalyzer
SSAnalyzer was developed by Retiree, Inc., a retirement income software firm. In March 2023, T. Rowe Price announced a definitive agreement to acquire Retiree, Inc.
On April 1, 2025, T. Rowe Price launched SSAnalyzer as a Social Security tool for advisors. Today, T. Rowe Price maintains SSAnalyzer pages with registration and login for financial professionals.
So this is not a product-death story. It is an access story. The software is live. What appears to have narrowed is open, independent access: the way in now appears to run through T. Rowe Price's advisor registration.
Why Access Matters to an Independent Practice
None of this is a comment on the quality of the math. It is a reminder that a Social Security tool sits inside your client workflow, so the terms of access belong in the evaluation alongside the features.
When access to a tool changes, a few practical questions follow for an RIA:
- Whose account is it? Know who holds the login, the client records and the history if the terms change.
- Whose name is on the output? A client report should carry your firm's name.
- What happens as you grow? Understand how the tool is priced and what moves that price as your book grows.
- Does it fit your independence? Many advisors went independent to choose their own tools. The Social Security layer is part of that choice.
What to Look for in an Independent Social Security Tool
Whatever you choose, these are the capabilities worth testing on a real household before you commit:
- Every claiming month, not just whole years. The gap between claiming at 66 and at 66 and seven months can add up over a retirement. A tool should evaluate each month from 62 to 70.
- The client's real earnings record. Projections should start from the SSA record itself, not a benefit estimate someone typed in by hand.
- Spouses and survivors on the same page. For a married household, claiming is a household decision. The survivor view should be on screen, not a separate exercise.
- A recommendation, with the work shown. The mathematically optimal age and the strategy you would recommend are not always the same. Good software shows both and explains the difference.
- A report a client can read. Plain dollars at each age, under your firm's name.
- Pricing that matches how you serve clients. Seat-based pricing and household-based pricing reward very different practice shapes.
